A BIT of HISTORY
Cedar Grove has a long history of providing quality accommodations and friendly service. A stroll along the point overlooking the lake reveals names and dates carved in the rock shore line dating back to the 1920's. The surrounding property that included Cedar Grove belonged to the Lints family at the turn of the 19th century. The Black Lake Cemetery has several headstones bearing the Lints name. This property was owned by Del Lints and later by Marjorie Lints. Sometime before 1944 the property changed hands and was owned by the Herring family. In 1949 Rudy and Marion Woytek purchased Cedar Grove, operating the camp until it was sold to Bill & Margaret Schaefer in 1978. The first Schaefer family operated Cedar Grove for 21 years before it changed hands in 1999. Karen and I are continuing to provide the same quality service. Over the years lots of changes have taken place. One thing that has remained the same is the peaceful feeling you get when sitting in an Adirondack chair under the trees while you enjoy one of the best views of Black Lakes many islands. |
